Spring Giving Campaign

St. Helena's Parish has an over 60 year commitment to sound Catholic education. Our educational system comprises three components:

 a) St Helena's Elementary School (Grades K to 8) A solid primary, middle and junior high school program is offered to our children, both Catholic and non‑Catholic alike. Children follow the New York State curriculum, receive regular standardized testing, and are offered special preparation for high school. We are proud of our regular classroom teaching and our special programs including Physical Education, Art, Music, Computer Usage, Spanish, Latin (for 8th Graders), Library and Remedial Help. We boast of a fine teaching staff, many of whom are graduates of our school, all of whom are committed educators and excellent role-models for our children. St. Helena's School emphasizes growth, responsibility and service. We encourage our children to take part in our many after-school programs, including sports activities (basketball, track, bowling, cheerleading, etc.) and other clubs such as Drama, Yearbook, Student Council, Confirmation service, CCD helpers, Junior Lectors, Altar Servers, Choir, etc. In a partnership with home and school, we seek to help our children grow "in age, wisdom and grace."

The principal of St. Helena's School is Mr. Richard Meller. Telephone (718) 892-3234. Tuition and other information available upon request.

 b) St. Helena's Early Childhood Program (for 3- and 4-year olds). A special component of St. Helena's School is our Early Childhood program which services approximately 100 children. A full-day program is offered individually for 3-year olds and for 4-year olds. A competent, loving staff of teachers and assistants provides a comprehensive program of development in learning, social skills and religion. Children take part in special trips and activities with our older students (such as "Buddy Day" with 4th Graders). St. Helena's Early Childhood Program offers a safe, loving environment for our children, most of whom continue on in our Elementary School.

c) Msgr. Scanlan High School (Grades 9-12). Our academic high school, located at 915 Hutchinson River Parkway, has, for over 50 years, provided an excellent pre-college curriculum for boys and girls from the Bronx and neighboring areas. Staffed by the Dominican Sisters of Sparkill and a fine lay staff, Msgr. Scanlan High School meets New York State requirements for secondary school curriculum, challenges students with Honors classes and Advanced Placement courses, and provides a full program of after-school activities, including sports (basketball, volleyball, cheerleading, bowling, track) and other activities (Yearbook, Campus Ministry, Pro-Life Committee, International Festival, Drama Club, Gospel and Liturgical Choir, etc.). We are proud to report that our  graduates achieved $4.5 million in scholarship awards at graduation last June.

Tuition and information available upon request.
