Reasons of health or work can excuse, in which case some other form of sacrifice should be substituted (acts of charity, additional prayers, etc.)

SPECIAL CEREMONIES DURING HOLY WEEK:

Palm Sunday: Vespers and Benediction will take place after the 1:00PM Mass. Join in this special adoration of Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament as we prepare for the great events of this Holy Week.

Tuesday, March 30-Seder Supper at 7PM in auditorium. This is our annual observance of the Passover (Seder) Supper of Our Lord at which He gave us the Holy Eucharist at the Last upper. We join with our neighbors from Parkchester Baptist Church in this symbolic meal, hosted by the Altar Guild. Come and see the Jewish roots of the Mass and join in this "supper of peace."

 Holy Thursday, April 1

·         Morning Mass at 7AM

·         Children's Mass at 10AM

·         Spanish Mass at 6PM

·         Solemn Mass at 7:30PM. The Solemn Mass includes the reenactment of Our Lord's washing the feet of His disciples at the Last Supper. It commemorates the giving of the sacrament of the Holy Eucharist and Holy Orders (Priesthood). At the end of the Mass, the Blessed Sacrament is brought in procession to the "repository" at the side altar, decorated to represent the garden to which Our Lord went to pray after the Last Supper.

·         The Church will be open to 11 PM for adoration of Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament at the repository. It is a beautiful custom to spend some time adoring Our Lord at the repository on Holy Thursday evening or on Good Friday morning, recalling the apostles who, as Our Lord said, "Could not watch one hour with me."
